Netflix’s ‘Sicario’ Replacement Officially Tops 38 Million Views in 2 Weeks

A Spanish-language film has topped Netflix's global viewership charts for a second consecutive week, cementing its status as a breakout hit and outperforming high-profile English-language rivals in the process. The film's success is notable because it has continued to gain viewers in its second week even while facing fresh competition from major new Netflix releases, suggesting unusually strong word-of-mouth momentum for a foreign-language title on the platform.

According to Netflix's latest weekly viewership report, the film has now amassed more than 38 million views across its first two weeks, beating out titles including Don't Say Good Luck and The Last House to claim the number-one global spot in both weeks. It also came close to matching the 23-million debut of the De Niro, Adam Scott and Michelle Monaghan psychological thriller The Whisper Man, which itself finished second in its opening week behind Netflix's Grand Theft Auto VI extended look, which drew 31 million views.
