## Key points

- David Tennant plays a vicar whose attempt to protect his family spirals out of control.
- Stanley Tucci plays a prisoner who helps solve criminal mysteries.
- The four-part thriller links two storylines across England and Arizona.

## Summary

David Tennant stars as Harry Watling, a village vicar whose attempt to protect his family after a misunderstanding over a USB drive leads him to imprison a maths tutor in his basement. The four-part thriller *Inside Man*, written by Steven Moffat, follows the consequences of that decision and a separate investigation in which an American journalist seeks help from a prisoner with a talent for solving crimes.

The story connects four characters whose lives initially seem unrelated: Harry, tutor Janice Fife, journalist Beth Davenport and imprisoned criminologist Jefferson Grieff, played by Stanley Tucci. Grieff is awaiting execution in an Arizona prison and solves cases according to his own moral criteria, with help from his assistant Dillon, a serial killer with a photographic memory. First released on BBC One in September 2022, the series has four episodes totalling roughly four hours.
