A Nevada couple, Jessica Zamora, 26, and Treyvon Currie, 31, have been federally charged after allegedly driving into a top-secret US Department of Energy testing facility near Las Vegas while carrying an unregistered handgun. Zamora's lawyer insists the pair simply took a wrong turn and had no intention of infiltrating the site, but prosecutors say their behaviour and inconsistent answers to security officers raised serious concerns, resulting in multiple federal charges including attempted entry by fraud.

The incident occurred on 5 August at the Nevada National Security Site in North Las Vegas, used for nuclear weapons research and storage of special nuclear materials, when the couple drove roughly 300 feet past warning signs before being stopped at a gate. Security found an unregistered Saturn sedan and a Smith & Wesson pistol, for which neither had a concealed carry permit; the pair claimed to be following another vehicle but gave names that did not match any facility employees, and Currie allegedly began reaching under his seat when challenged. Both face charges including unauthorised entry, unauthorised introduction of a weapon onto DOE property, and possession of a firearm in a federal facility.
