## Key points

- DC is pursuing a new Constantine film with Francis Galluppi writing.
- The project’s relationship to the Keanu Reeves sequel is unclear.
- Reeves and director Francis Lawrence had been attached to the earlier project.

## Summary

DC Studios is developing a new Constantine film with Francis Galluppi attached as a writer, bringing the character back to the screen after two decades. The announcement matters because it has cast uncertainty over a separate, long-discussed sequel to the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves.

The report does not say whether Galluppi’s project will replace that sequel, which had Reeves and director Francis Lawrence attached and was reportedly in early development. DC chief James Gunn said he had discussed a film with Reeves, but had not read a script; actor Peter Stormare has said Reeves was unhappy with one. Galluppi is also working on the next Evil Dead film, though it is unclear whether he will direct Constantine.
