## Key points

- PlayStation Plus is adding trials and discounts.
- Players say they want physical discs.
- Sony plans to stop making new game discs in January 2028.

## Summary

Sony has promoted new PlayStation Plus offers, including a three-month YouTube Premium trial, Calm access and discounts, but many players have responded by demanding physical game discs. Their reaction reflects wider concern about Sony’s plan to stop producing discs for new PlayStation games, which raises questions about players’ ownership of digital libraries.

The article says the change is due in January 2028 and covers PS4 and PS5 games. Replies to Sony’s post include comments such as “The only perk I want is discs”; the article notes that similar objections have appeared under other PlayStation posts. It suggests that cancellations or players buying games elsewhere could pressure Sony, though it is uncertain whether the company will change course.
