Newly released airport security footage shows FBI agents confronting former US Congressman Eric Swalwell at San Francisco Airport on 15 August, as they executed a search warrant during a federal criminal investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against him. Swalwell, 45, who has denied the allegations, surrendered electronic devices including his phone and laptop; the footage shows him surrounded by agents at his departure gate before being led to a restricted area, though he was not shown being arrested and appeared cooperative throughout.

The search warrant was filed on 13 August under a federal statute covering abuse of official authority, and agents also searched Swalwell's Washington DC home the following day, seizing further undisclosed material. At least four women have accused the former Democratic congressman of sexual misconduct, including claims of rape in 2018, 2019 and 2024, allegations that prompted him to abandon his campaign for California governor and resign from Congress. The Justice Department opened its investigation in April, alongside separate inquiries by prosecutors in Manhattan and Los Angeles County; Swalwell's attorney has been contacted for comment.
