The New York Post has agreed a first-look partnership with Crazy Legs Productions to turn its journalism and archives into film, television, documentary and streaming projects. The deal matters because it expands the tabloid’s publishing business into screen entertainment, following a wider trend of newspapers seeking new audiences and revenue from their reporting.

The Atlanta- and Los Angeles-based producer will develop scripted and unscripted projects, particularly in true crime, pop culture and sport, using material from the New York Post and its newly launched California Post. Crazy Legs’ previous credits include 1000-LB Sisters, Tech Bro Murders and HBO’s The Great Lillian Hall; comparable archive-development deals have been made by The New York Times and The Washington Post.
