Residents of a new-build estate in Hucknall, Nottingham, are divided over a 50ft-high rollercoaster being tested beside their homes. Some regard it as an entertaining alternative to a block of flats, while others say it is an eyesore that dominates their views and affects their privacy.

The ride has remained at the site for about 18 months, longer than expected, with carts occasionally being tested on the track. Residents have also complained about noise from loose straps and urban explorers trespassing, while the company says the coaster is temporary, has proved difficult to assemble and is part of a work depot rather than a fairground.
