## Summary

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says Jay-Z had wanted to headline the Super Bowl halftime show for some time, but waited until the moment felt right. Jay-Z was announced this week as the performer for Super Bowl LXI in February 2027, marking a major personal milestone and the next step in his role shaping the NFL’s live music.

Goodell said the timing aligns with the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z’s debut album, the end of his recent tour and the game taking place in Los Angeles. Jay-Z and Roc Nation have advised the NFL on live music since 2019, bringing performers including Rihanna, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Usher to the stage. Goodell says Jay-Z already has a vision for the show, while its format and possible guests remain unknown.
