Nicole Kidman has revealed she would love to appear in Denis Villeneuve's Dune franchise but has never been asked, calling the situation "devastating" despite describing herself as an obsessive fan of the saga. The Oscar-winning actress made the comments during an interview with fellow actress Sandra Bullock on Vogue's Off the Cuff, highlighting the gap between her enthusiasm for the films and her actual involvement in them.

Kidman explained that while she considers herself a "Dunie" who is "obsessed" with the franchise, she admitted she would ultimately rather watch the films as a viewer than star in them herself. Bullock jokingly urged Villeneuve, via the camera, to "call her", while also teasing Kidman that she "wouldn't like the sand". The exchange comes as Villeneuve prepares to release Dune: Part Three on 18 December, completing his trilogy adaptation of Frank Herbert's novels, while the HBO spin-off series Dune: Prophecy has already been renewed for a second season, with filming under way in Hungary, Jordan and Spain.
