Nightwing's chief executive Bob Coleman accidentally sent an internal Labor Day thank-you message to journalists, including The Register, after apparently selecting the wrong distribution list. The mishap is notable because Nightwing is a cybersecurity and intelligence contractor that markets itself on secure communications, making the slip-up something of an embarrassment for a firm spun out of defence giant Raytheon in 2024.

The email, marked "For Internal Use Only," addressed staff as "Dear Colleagues" and thanked "Team Nightwing" for their dedication, urging recipients to "rest, recharge, and enjoy the well-deserved break" before signing off simply as "Bob." The Register has asked Nightwing whether the message was meant to reach the press, noting the internal-use marking suggests otherwise, but has yet to receive a response.
