NIGHTWISH To Begin Recording Eleventh Album In May 2027; Seven Songs Have Been Written Already, Says TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN
Nightwish plan to begin recording their eleventh studio album in May 2027, with seven songs already written, according to keyboardist and principal songwriter Tuomas Holopainen. The project signals continued creative momentum during the band’s extended break from live performances, which Holopainen says has helped the songs arrive more freely.
Holopainen said the follow-up to 2024’s *Yesterwynde* is progressing alongside a completed solo album expected in spring 2027 and Auri’s recent third album and tour. Nightwish have not performed for more than three years; Holopainen considers 2027 too soon to tour, while a return in 2028 remains possible after the new record is made.
- Nightwish will record album eleven from May 2027.
- Tuomas Holopainen has written seven songs already.
- Touring may resume in 2028, after the album.
