## Key points

- Democrats flipped both chambers in a major setback for Trump.
- Most candidates endorsed by Nicki Minaj lost.
- Minaj reaffirmed her support for Trump after the results.

## Summary

Democrats made sweeping gains in the midterm elections, flipping both chambers of Congress in what the article describes as a rebuke of Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Nicki Minaj, who had campaigned for Republicans and become a prominent Trump supporter, responded by reaffirming her support and criticising voters who opposed them.

In a 15-point post on X, Minaj congratulated Florida Republicans Anna Paulina Luna and Byron Donalds, while most of the candidates she endorsed lost. Donalds was the only successful candidate among those named; Mike Rogers, John James and Bruce Blakeman were defeated. The article says Democrats were on course for more than 250 House seats and at least 55 Senate seats, and notes Minaj had previously praised Trump while incorrectly saying he had won three elections.
