Nintendo has ended service for Mario Kart Tour, its free-to-play mobile racing game, which launched in 2019. The closure matters to mobile players because the game will not continue as an offline title: the app will only display player statistics.

Nintendo announced the shutdown in July, stopped selling in-game currency and ended Gold Pass auto-renewals at that time. Service ended at 11 p.m. Pacific Time on 29 September, or 8 a.m. Central European Summer Time on 30 September. The game joins several discontinued Nintendo mobile titles, while Mario Kart games remain available on Nintendo consoles.
