Police in New Jersey have charged a man with murder after his wife was found fatally stabbed inside their home in Somerville. The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Alyne Espinal, 46, was discovered with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of her death. The case has drawn added attention because it occurred around 15 miles from the location of the unsolved killing of Brooke Hanlon.

Officers were called to the Brookside Avenue property on Thursday at around 7:30pm following a 911 call raising concerns for the woman's welfare. Her husband, Ignacio Espinal, 55, was arrested in West New York on Tuesday and now faces charges of first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree hindering. Authorities say the investigation remains preliminary and ongoing, with officials continuing to interview witnesses and review forensic, physical and electronic evidence.
