## Summary

Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's classic has rewritten the blockbuster playbook with a historic $263.7 million global opening weekend, marking the filmmaker's strongest ever international start at $140.2 million across 73 territories and his third-best North American debut with $123.5 million. The epic's performance eclipses previous industry benchmarks and signals unprecedented appetite for prestige-scale filmmaking.

Momentum shows no signs of abating, with North American Monday receipts reaching $17.5 million—the strongest single Monday of 2026 to date, surpassing comparable summer tentpoles. The sustained trajectory demonstrates the film's broad cross-demographic appeal, with its global dominance placing it well ahead of concurrent releases and establishing it as a cultural event rather than a conventional theatrical release.
