## Key points

- A review says *Yaga* loses focus despite its promising premise.
- Noah Reid’s investigator is criticised as exhausting and ineffective.
- The series blends folklore, mystery, horror and comedy.

## Summary

The latest coverage of *Yaga* adds a review arguing that the thriller’s strong cast and folklore-inspired premise are undermined by an exhausting lead investigator and a story that struggles to settle on a tone. The reviewer says the series’ mix of supernatural mystery, detective drama, horror and comedy leaves its themes underdeveloped.

The seven-episode series follows private investigator Charlie Rapp, played by Noah Reid, as he searches for missing heir Henry Park, played by Hudson Williams, in the town of Whittock. Rapp works with local officer Frances Carson and encounters possible suspects including Henry’s lookalike roommate Logan, also played by Williams, and professor Katherine Hargrove, played by Carrie-Anne Moss. Baba Yaga voice-overs introduce themes of folklore, sexuality and feminine rage, but the review says the series does little with them.
