Not Your Daddy’s Films, a Los Angeles organisation supporting women and nonbinary filmmakers, has become fiscally sponsored by Film Independent as it marks its fourth anniversary. The arrangement is intended to help the group secure additional funding and expand its programmes while retaining its community-led approach.

Founded in 2022 by five film-industry multi-hyphenates, NYDF has grown from bimonthly screenings for 25 people to events attracting more than 300 attendees. It plans to broaden screenings, workshops, resources, festival activity, advisory leadership and its “Daddy Dailies” podcast; its anniversary event will feature six emerging filmmakers at the Aster in Hollywood.
