Nothing Ear 3A earbuds add onboard recording for calls and audio

The Verge · 13 hours ago

Nothing has introduced an affordable wireless earbud option with an unexpected technical capability: embedded audio recording. The Ear 3A, priced at $99, incorporate 32MB of internal storage and upgraded microphones enabling users to capture sound directly on the earbuds themselves, a feature that sets them apart from Nothing's previous audio hardware offerings.

The earbuds support two recording modes—an "Audio Snapshot" feature activated by pinching that captures what's playing with a preroll buffer, and phone call recording limited to approximately two hours due to storage constraints. Captured recordings automatically upload to Nothing's mobile application where they can be edited, transcribed, replayed, and shared. Additional improvements include enhanced 12mm drivers for bass response, broadened noise cancellation coverage, and battery longevity extending to 42 hours when paired with the charging case.

  • Nothing's new $99 Ear 3A earbuds feature 32MB of onboard storage and can record both ambient audio and phone calls directly on the devices
  • All recordings sync to Nothing's mobile app where users can edit, transcribe, and share the content
  • The earbuds also include upgraded 12mm drivers, improved noise cancellation, and extended battery life up to 42 hours
