The number of Australians reported missing after catastrophic flooding in Nepal has risen to 41, as the reported death toll reached 600. The disaster, caused by a glacier collapse in the Rasuwa region, has devastated communities and tourist areas, prompting Australian officials to assist with recovery and identification efforts.

Nepalese authorities said the floodwaters may have reached 650ft and that 1,924 people are missing. The count excludes a 26-year-old Australian hiker who was stranded but contacted her family, while families of other missing Australians have held prayer circles and vigils; Australia has also updated its travel advice for Nepal.
