Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has filed an impeachment resolution against US District Judge Allison Burroughs, an Obama appointee in Massachusetts, after she issued a stay blocking the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali nationals. The move is the latest escalation in a broader Republican campaign accusing certain federal judges of obstructing the administration's immigration agenda through repeated rulings against deportations and TPS terminations, despite Supreme Court decisions in the government's favour.

The resolution, filed by Ogles of Tennessee, targets Burroughs specifically over her Friday ruling temporarily halting the TPS rollback for Somalis living in the United States. It follows separate comments from a Department of Homeland Security lawyer, James Percival, who argued the public should know which judges are in "open defiance" of the Supreme Court on immigration matters, describing the pattern as "naked political activism" by a subset of district judges rather than the judiciary as a whole.
