Inde Navarrette, the breakout star of the hit film “Obsession”, has confirmed that she recently met Marvel Studios and Jake Schreier, who is developing the next “X-Men” film. She said she would be interested in playing Mystique, though she stressed that the meeting may simply have been an opportunity to meet a filmmaker she admires rather than a casting discussion.

Navarrette praised Schreier’s character-focused approach in “Thunderbolts” and said she grew up watching Fox’s 2000s “X-Men” films. Marvel is expected to introduce a younger X-Men team after “Avengers: Doomsday” in December and “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027, while several legacy X-Men actors are set to return first; “Obsession” reportedly earned more than $400 million on a small budget.
