Michael Johnston has responded to reports that he is in early talks to join The Mummy 4, saying it would be “incredible” to work with directors Radio Silence, but he did not confirm that he has been cast. His comments add weight to speculation around the sequel, which is bringing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz back to the franchise nearly two decades after its last instalment.

The film has also confirmed John Hannah’s return, while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence will direct. Johnston, whose recent horror film Obsession was a major 2026 success, said Radio Silence’s involvement prompted him to revisit the original Mummy and consider how the filmmakers might subvert expectations within the largely PG-13 series.
