Oldenburg Names First Titles for 2026 Selection
The Oldenburg Film Festival has announced the first selections for its 2026 edition, featuring a mix of world premieres and German premieres of titles that previously screened at Cannes and Locarno. The lineup leans on returning festival favourites known for unconventional cinema, including Bertrand Mandico, Michael Polish and Edgar Pêra, reinforcing Oldenburg's reputation for championing offbeat independent filmmaking.
Highlights include Mandico's Roma Elastica, starring Marion Cotillard and Noémie Merlant, which had a Cannes midnight screening and will now get its German premiere; Polish's Kill Me Now, a world premiere starring Jacqueline Singer alongside Mena Suvari, Mario Van Peebles and Keith Carradine; and Pêra's Locarno title Asphalt Guerilla. Also featured are Vincent Grashaw's Bruton, marking his third Oldenburg appearance, and world premieres such as Matthew Osubor's debut Big Daddy's Flowers, Boris Mojsovski's Foreign Tongue, Mylissa Fitzsimmons' Mackenzie, and Srdjan Janicijevic's political thriller You Won't Believe What Happened Before, alongside Marjorie Conrad's Cannes-premiered documentary The Joyless Economy.
