Bravo is marking the 20th anniversary of the Real Housewives franchise with a new nine-episode special, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, which brings together cast members past and present to reflect on the music careers many launched off the back of the reality show. The feature explores how the franchise, since its 2006 debut with The Real Housewives of Orange County, has spawned not just a reality TV empire but also a string of memorable, if divisive, pop songs recorded by its cast members.

The piece centres on Jo De La Rosa, an original Real Housewives of Orange County cast member who, aged 26 during the show's second season in 2007, became the franchise's first Housewife to pursue a music career. Originally hoping only to become a songwriter for stars such as Kelly Clarkson and Hilary Duff, she was drawn in front of the microphone after a chance meeting with rapper Won-G, going on to record a demo with Grammy-winning producer Bob Cutarella at Capitol Records while cameras rolled. She left the show after two seasons to sign a record deal, releasing her debut album Unscripted in 2008. The new anniversary series, airing Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo and streaming on Peacock, features other cast members such as Porsha Williams discussing the franchise's musical legacy.
