Queen’s 1979 hit ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ was reportedly written by Freddie Mercury in five to ten minutes after an idea came to him while taking a bath. The story highlights the song’s unusually simple, quickly formed origins and its importance as one of the band’s most enduring and widely covered releases.

Mercury said his limited guitar ability restricted him to a few chords, which helped shape the song’s compact style. Drummer Roger Taylor said it was recorded roughly six months before the rest of The Game and took about half an hour; it then spent four weeks at number one in the US. Later covers included versions by Michael Bublé, Diana Ross, Rihanna and Dwight Yoakam.
