The writers room for Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building" is relocating from Los Angeles to New York ahead of a likely seventh season, Deadline reports. The show has not yet been officially renewed, but a new season is widely expected given its consistent popularity and recent haul of five additional Emmy nominations, making the logistical shift significant for how the series is produced going forward.

The move is driven by scheduling pressures: Season 6, filmed in London and wrapped only last week, delayed the traditional pattern of writing in Los Angeles before filming elsewhere, and Season 7 is expected to return production to New York. To keep the show's roughly yearly release cadence (Season 6 arrives on 8 December after an unusually long 15-month gap), writing and filming will need to overlap, prompting showrunner John Hoffman to base the room in New York so he can oversee both simultaneously. Some current writers are expected to continue, though the full team has not been finalised, and 20th Television declined to comment.
