## Key points

- The writer expects the remake to replace their N64 favourite.
- They have revisited the game across several versions and platforms.
- The feeling prompts reflection on life’s unnoticed last times.

## Summary

The writer says a forthcoming remake of *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* may replace the original for them. After returning to the N64 game many times over the decades, they were struck by how the remake’s lively Castle Town matched what they had imagined Hyrule could be.

The change feels unusually emotional because the original has been a familiar comfort, and remakes have usually supplemented rather than displaced games the writer loves. They connect the feeling to middle age and the quiet accumulation of life’s “last times”, while acknowledging that mourning a final playthrough is a relatively small concern.
