## Key points

- Echo Show 16 starts at $499.99.
- Customisable screens add family and smart home features.
- Its price may put off Alexa users.

## Summary

Amazon has announced the Echo Show 16, a large smart display with customisable screens for family organising, smart home controls, Alexa widgets and photos. Its always-on or approach-activated layouts aim to make the screen more useful at a glance, but the high price could limit its appeal.

The device costs $499.99, including a wall mount, with an anti-glare Nanomatte option priced at $569.99; a $100 pre-order discount is available ahead of its release later this year. It has a full HD screen, a MediaTek processor and a speaker system with eight woofers and two tweeters. At twice the price of the Echo Show 11, the article suggests it may be costly even for committed Alexa users.
