Former Disney chief executive Bob Chapek is publishing a memoir about his three decades at the company, including his controversial 2020–22 period as CEO. The book is expected to offer his account of the decisions and internal tensions surrounding the pandemic, his removal and Bob Iger’s return, making it a potentially notable contribution to recent Disney corporate history.

Behind the Castle Walls: My 30 Years At The Happiest Place On Earth will be published by Gallery Books on 29 September, with Don Yaeger as co-writer. Chapek became CEO shortly before Covid-19 forced Disney to close parks, halt cruises and suspend film and television production; the publisher says the memoir will address whether he was treated fairly and what led to his dismissal. Chapek has largely remained out of the public eye since leaving Disney, while Iger stepped down again earlier in 2026 and was succeeded by Josh D’Amaro.
