Outgoing Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Maine has endorsed Republican Rep. Mike Lawler of New York for re-election, citing Lawler’s willingness to work across party lines. Golden, who is leaving Congress after deciding not to seek re-election in 2026, said voters should support lawmakers who prioritise governing over partisan performance.

Lawler has represented New York’s 17th Congressional District since 2023 and is seeking another term against Democratic challenger Cait Conley. Conley is a combat veteran and former National Security Council counterterrorism director, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has publicly backed her campaign.
