The trailer for season two of "Outlander: Blood of My Blood" reveals that the show's central couples will be separated again as the Jacobite rising of 1715 approaches, continuing the prequel's pattern of hard-won reunions being quickly undone. The Starz series returns for a 10-episode second season on 18 September, opening by resolving whether Julia, Henry and their newborn son William made it through the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun.

According to the trailer, only Henry (Jeremy Irvine) passes through the stones, waking in an unknown era inside a psychiatric hospital as he confronts mental health struggles from his time as a World War One veteran. Julia (Hermione Corfield) is left to face her menacing husband, Lord Lovat (Tony Curran), who still believes her child is his, while Brian (Jamie Roy) and Ellen (Harriet Slater) are pulled apart again after Brian killed Ellen's jilted fiancé in self-defence and rides off to war, leaving Ellen to navigate a bitter feud between her brothers back at Castle Leoch.
