## Key points

- About 1,000 tonnes of sludge were found uncovered at a Finningley landfill.
- The Environment Agency has set actions for the operator.
- A neighbouring motocross venue closed after reports of illness and odours.

## Summary

An MP says about 1,000 tonnes of sewage sludge were stored in an uncovered stockpile at a landfill near Finningley, on the outskirts of Doncaster. The Environment Agency (EA) inspected the site and has required its operator to address concerns about whether it is following approved operating and management arrangements.

The EA says it identified problems with odour management and may take further enforcement action if needed. The operator, Tetron Finningley Ltd, was given until 10 November to resolve the stockpile issue. A neighbouring motocross venue has closed after staff and visitors reported headaches, nausea and feeling unwell amid complaints about smells; the MP has also raised concerns about possible asbestos disposal and air quality.
