Overthrow the Kaiser in Red Echoes: Berlin, a Weimar-era turn-based strategy game in the style of Suzerain

Rock Paper Shotgun · 5 hours ago

Morningrise Games, a new independent studio, has announced Red Echoes: Berlin, a narrative-driven turn-based strategy game set during Germany's 1918-1919 "November Revolution" at the close of the First World War. Players take on the role of three different agitators across three chapters, encountering historical figures such as Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, as they attempt to foment revolution against the Kaiser's regime. The game is notable for its stylistic resemblance to Suzerain, the acclaimed 2020 political strategy title, as its founder claims prior work on that game and its DLC.

The game tasks players with directing revolutionaries around a stylised Berlin map, drawing on classic Weimar-era graphic design, and using special character abilities against state forces. Multiple endings are promised, ranging from defeat to a successful revolution, and a full playthrough is expected to last around three to four hours. Red Echoes: Berlin is due to launch later in 2026, though the studio's founder has not yet been publicly named.
