Overwatch season 4 will introduce some much-needed map changes to Paraiso and Busan

Polygon · 3 hours ago

Blizzard has announced a series of map updates for Overwatch season 4, set to launch on 11 August, aimed at fixing longstanding gameplay frustrations on several maps. Producer Ren Soanes revealed the changes during the dev segment of Sunday's Overwatch Champion Series midseason tournament, with adjustments to Paraiso, Eichenwalde and Busan intended to open up chokepoints and give attacking teams more viable routes and angles.

Paraiso gains a new rooftop pool and opened building near attacker spawn to ease its notorious single-lane bottleneck, alongside cosmetic touches like a revamped Club Sinestesia. Eichenwalde, unchanged since its 2016 debut, gets new high ground, an extended flanking platform, a fresh staircase and jump pad, plus additional windows at the final spawn (though these don't extend the spawn area itself). Busan receives the biggest overhaul, including new story elements tied to a Junker invasion, a jump pad and viewing platform at the capture point, and new flank routes on the Meka Base map to break up stair chokepoints; the Sanctuary map also gains a new health pack alcove and an objective-overlooking window.

  • Overwatch season 4 launches 11 August with map reworks.
  • Paraiso, Eichenwalde and Busan get anti-chokepoint changes.
  • Busan and Meka Base gain new flank routes and story elements.
