## Key points

- Hamshaw wants to stay at Sheffield Wednesday but accepts the club will decide.
- His first game ended in a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United.
- Burstow scored before Kaikai equalised after a Wednesday error.

## Summary

Sheffield Wednesday interim manager Matt Hamshaw said he would like to remain at the club, while acknowledging that the decision rests with its hierarchy as they seek a permanent successor to Henrik Pedersen. His first match in charge ended in a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United, leaving Wednesday still waiting for a win after a difficult spell.

Mason Burstow put Wednesday ahead with a goal in the 50th minute, but substitute Sulley Kaikai equalised after a mistake by Billy Mitchell. Hamshaw called the result frustrating, saying Wednesday started slowly but improved, and praised Pedersen’s commitment to the club. The Owls are due to host Blackpool on Sunday; former Stockport manager Dave Challinor was reported to be among the candidates for the vacant role.
