Crystal Palace have signed Spain defender Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo on a free transfer, subject to international clearance. The 27-year-old has agreed a four-year contract and becomes the first summer signing of new head coach Pierre Sage, marking an early piece of business as the club builds for the coming Premier League season.

A product of Barcelona's La Masia academy, Mingueza made 66 appearances for the club after his senior debut in 2020 and won the Copa del Rey in 2021, before moving to Celta Vigo in 2022, where he scored seven goals and provided 15 assists in 147 games. Capped four times by Spain, he was not part of Luis de la Fuente's 26-man squad for this summer's World Cup. Chairman Steve Parish praised the versatile defender's quality and experience, while Mingueza said it was "an honour" to join. Palace begin their season away at Everton on Saturday, 22 August at 15:00 BST.
