Two Palestinian teenagers, Omar al-Nassan, 19, and Khalil Abu Alia, 16, were killed in the West Bank village of al-Mughayyir after local officials said Israeli settlers and soldiers attacked while the pair tried to stop settlers stealing sheep. The Israeli military said its forces entered the village to protect an Israeli civilian and police retrieving livestock, and fired on "key instigators" of a disturbance in which Palestinians threw stones. The deaths form part of a marked rise in settler violence across the occupied West Bank, drawing renewed criticism of the Israeli military's role in such incidents.

The United Nations recorded more than three settler attacks a day on average in the West Bank this year, and says at least 81 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since January, 23 of them in settler-related violence, against three Israeli deaths over the same period. Separately, Israeli forces demolished the village of Khirbet al-Tabban in Masafer Yatta on Wednesday, leaving 70 residents, including 28 children, without warning, according to the rights group B'Tselem, which called it the 66th Palestinian community expelled since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
