‘Palm Royale’ Went Full ‘Dynasty’ for Its Biggest Fight Yet
Apple TV comedy series Palm Royale went all-out for its season two showdown between Kristen Wiig's Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons and Claudia Ferri's Raquel Kimberly-Marco, staging a lengthy, chaotic brawl deliberately modelled on the melodramatic catfights of 1970s soap opera Dynasty. Emmy-nominated stunt coordinator Mallory Thompson said she researched Dynasty's fight scenes to capture that era's over-the-top energy, resulting in a sequence far longer and more elaborate than a typical TV scuffle, underscoring the show's willingness to lean into camp spectacle to heighten its central rivalry.
The fight runs two and a half minutes, sprawling through much of the Palm Beach-set Dellacorte estate — up and down stairs, through rooms and out into the garden — before ending with Raquel hog-tied by Maxine after both fall into the mansion's pool. Stunt performers Sonja Wajih and Colby Lemmo executed the most dangerous moments, including a stair fall in heels with minimal padding and a crash through a scored but solid wood table, emerging with bruises but no injuries; Wiig and Ferri also contributed physically to enhance realism, with Thompson noting the pair's screams and reactions were shaped to keep the scene "funny" as well as dramatic.
