Paramount has confirmed it will remain headquartered in Los Angeles following its acquisition of WBD, ending weeks of speculation about a potential relocation. The anti-trust settlement brokered by 12 state attorneys general mandates that both the Paramount lot in Melrose and the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank be retained for at least five years, and CEO David Ellison made an emphatic public commitment that the merged company would not be leaving the city.

The settlement resolves a costly dispute that had threatened to drag on past an October 1 deadline, when expensive ticking fees to WBD would have commenced. Paramount had previously suggested it might relocate to Tennessee, Texas or Georgia if the anti-trust case were not resolved quickly. Under the consent decree, the combined company is obligated to operate both studio lots in accordance with past practices, including leasing to third parties and producing films and television shows, whilst committing to produce over 30 films annually.
