- Worldwide takings have only just about reached its $82 million budget.

## Summary

A new video game adaptation starring Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji has lost 750 cinemas as it enters its third week, following a sharp fall in ticket sales. Its rapid decline raises questions about whether it can earn enough to cover its reported production budget.

The film opened solidly but its box office fell by more than 70% in its second weekend. It has only just about matched its reported $82 million budget in worldwide takings, and faces pressure from other video game adaptations, including Mortal Kombat II. The article says its reception among fans has been mediocre.
