Turkish port authorities denied docking privileges to a cruise ship chartered by Atlantis Events, objecting to the passenger composition on grounds of incompatibility with national moral and social values. The Scarlet Lady, expected to carry over 1,000 American travellers on a Greece-to-Italy route beginning July 5, was originally scheduled to visit Kuşadası and Istanbul; the operator rerouted the itinerary to include stops in Cairo and the Greek island of Crete instead.

Patti LuPone, scheduled to perform aboard the vessel, publicly objected to the exclusion and declared her intention to proceed with her contracted entertainment. The cruise operator confirmed the revised schedule would continue with planned activities under the new routing.
