Peacock Reveals Another Price Hike After NBCU Streamer’s First Profitable Quarter
Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service, is raising subscription prices across all three of its tiers, marking another increase after the platform posted its first-ever profitable quarter. The hike comes as NBCUniversal completes its split from Versant, retaining NBC, Bravo, Peacock and its studios under Comcast, while executives caution that Peacock's profitability will continue to fluctuate quarterly depending on sports scheduling and other content costs.
From today, depending on billing dates, the ad-supported Peacock Premium tier rises from $10.99 to $12.99 a month, the ad-free Premium Plus increases by $3 to $19.99, and the Peacock Select tier goes up by $1 to $8.99. The service, launched in 2020, reported 48 million subscribers in its most recent quarter, up from 46 million the previous quarter and 41 million a year earlier. Peacock continues to invest heavily in live sports and events, including Sunday Night Football, the NBA, WNBA, Premier League and college sports, alongside content such as The Traitors, Love Island USA and The Five Star Weekend.
