## Key points

- Pegula’s private criticism of Andreeva was broadcast from practice.
- Her agent said Pegula did not know the conversation was audible.
- The WTA removed the streams, but clips spread online.

## Summary

Jessica Pegula called Mirra Andreeva “a diva” and said she needed to be humbled in comments to her coach that were picked up during a live-streamed practice session at Indian Wells. The private remarks have drawn attention because they were broadcast publicly just before the WTA Finals, where the two players could meet in the knockout rounds.

Pegula’s agent said she was unaware microphones could capture the conversation and that she had since contacted those involved directly. Pegula also praised Andreeva’s movement, serve and intelligence, while suggesting she could be even better with Coco Gauff’s mentality. Andreeva, 18, won the French Open in June; the WTA removed the practice-session streams, though clips circulated on social media. A separate stream appeared to capture an exchange between Elena Rybakina and coach Stefano Vukov.
