Persona 4 Revival Finds Its Kanji, And It Isn’t Troy Baker Or Matt Mercer

Polygon · 3 hours ago

Atlus has cast Daman Mills as the new voice of Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4 Revival, replacing Troy Baker and Matt Mercer, who previously voiced the character in earlier English releases. The reveal came via a sizzle reel shown at a PAX West panel for the game, and fits into Atlus's broader decision to recast the entire English voice cast for this remake rather than retain the original actors.

Mills is known for voicing Frieza in Dragon Ball, alongside roles in Borderlands 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Yakuza Kiwami 3, and has previous Atlus credits including Persona 3 Reload and Soul Hackers 2. Kanji is considered a significant character to get right, as an early prominent example of a video game character exploring gender identity, and Atlus has indicated it wants to update how other characters treat him in light of past criticism. Mills spoke about balancing Kanji's masculine and feminine traits and his journey through insecurity and growth. Persona 4 Revival launches on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X on 18 February 2027, with day-one availability on Game Pass.
