Pervert who filmed couple having sex through bedroom window and spied on up to 90 women jailed

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

Jake Austin, 31, has been jailed for 31 months after admitting a four-year campaign of voyeurism in which he spied on and filmed as many as 90 women, including a couple having sex through their bedroom window. He was caught in Norwich when a woman having sex with her partner spotted his face pressed against the ground-floor window; police seized his phone and later raided his home, uncovering evidence of widespread filming through windows and blinds and "upskirting" in supermarkets, pubs and the street. Judge Andrew Shaw at Norwich Crown Court said the campaign caused "gravest concern" and that Austin posed a high risk of serious harm to the public.

Austin pleaded guilty to five counts of voyeurism, three of recording images under clothing without consent, and three of making indecent images of children, including Category A material. The offending ran from June 2020 until his arrest in March 2024, but only six of the estimated 90 victims have been identified and contacted by Norfolk Police, meaning most remain unaware they were filmed. Victims described lasting anxiety and a loss of privacy in impact statements read to the court, while his defence said he had developed an "unhealthy" obsession following a toxic relationship and PTSD; he had no previous convictions and told the court he was "very sorry".
