## Summary

Peter Jackson has confirmed that *The Lord of the Rings: The Shadow of the Past*, a project co-written with television host Stephen Colbert, is still in the scriptwriting stage. The update counters reports that the film had been put on hold amid changes at Warner Bros., and indicates that another Middle-earth story is in development.

Jackson also said *The Hunt for Gollum*, directed by and starring Andy Serkis, had about two weeks of filming left when he spoke at the Sitges Film Festival. The film is scheduled for release on 17 December 2027 and will cover events before the Council of Elrond. The article also mentions the upcoming third season of *The Rings of Power*, but its unrelated Tolkien-themed quiz text does not add details about the film projects.
