A Change.org petition calling for Nashville International Airport to be renamed after Dolly Parton has gathered more than 70,000 signatures, following the country music icon's death on 25 August at the age of 80. The tribute reflects the scale of public affection for Parton, whose death from cancer has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, fellow musicians and political leaders alike.

The petition, launched by Tennessee residents Lydia Popovich and Dan Dion, praises Parton's "countless contributions to society" through music, film and philanthropy, and proposes the airport be renamed "Dolly Parton International Airport". Nashville Airport itself has already paid tribute by lighting its parking garages pink over the weekend, though it has not commented on the renaming request. Tributes have also poured in from figures including Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and US presidents past and present, including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W Bush and Bill Clinton.
