PGA Tour Champions golfer Matt Gogel has received a six-month suspension for betting on PGA Tour-sanctioned events, breaching the Tour’s integrity rules. The case matters because it reinforces the organisation’s prohibition on wagering connected to its competitions, even where there is no evidence a player bet on events in which they were competing.

Gogel said the wagers were small, recreational bets placed in 2024 and that he did not knowingly break the rules; he said none involved regular PGA Tour events, Champions events or tournaments he played in. The PGA Tour said he never bet on a tournament in which he participated, and the suspension runs from Sunday until 22 February 2027; Gogel, 55, is currently 20th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.
