Investigators say he may now have fled to the Los Angeles area, where he reportedly has ties, and have issued a warning that he could be in the region as the manhunt continues.

A warrant has been issued for Hughes's arrest after a string of incidents in which he allegedly chased and frightened women while disguised in the horror-film-style mask, evading capture despite an extensive police search. One victim has said she used stage combat training to fend him off during an encounter. Authorities have not detailed further charges but continue to appeal for information as they investigate his suspected West Coast connections.
